Ann Giddens

Elizabeth “Ann” Purcell Giddens ,loving wife, mother, Mimi, and nurse, passed away on April 22, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 68 years old. Ann was born on September 24, 1955 in Ashburn, Ga to E.L and Cortez Purcell.

Ann’s passion was nursing, and she earned her RN degree and spent the last 32 years as a nurse. She spent 26 years as a day surgery nurse at, Tift Regional Medical Center and served as the day surgery charge nurse for 23 of those years, where she made a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues alike. Ann had a natural ability to connect with people and always put her patients' needs first. She was known for going above and beyond to make sure they felt cared for and supported. When Ann wasn't working, she enjoyed working in her flowers and yards, shopping, cooking, cheering on the Ga Bulldogs, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband she met in 1975, Mack “Vernon” Giddens Jr and they were married for 48 years. She and Vernon have one son, Shane (Danna) Giddens of Valdosta Ga;  and two granddaughters, Aubri Ann Giddens of Tifton Ga and Mackenzie Giddens of Valdosta Ga; mother, Cortez Purcell "Granny Cork" of Ashburn, whom she all loved deeply. She grew up in a close-knit family as the middle of five siblings; brother, Billy Purcell (Sheila) of Texas, sister, Kathy Jones of Rebecca, Ga, brother,  David Purcell (Myria) of Ringo, Ga; sister in law, Cynthia Purcell of Chula, Ga., sister in law, Patricia Barber (Tommy) of Nashville, Ga, sister in law Monica Conger (Joe) of Indiana; brother in law Travis Giddens (Tiffany) of Florida;  and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends. Ann was preceded in death by her father, E.L. Purcell; and brother, Steve Purcell; father and mother in laws, Mack and Margaret Giddens.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Walker and Rev. R. T. Castleberry officiating. Interment will follow at Beulah Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service.
